Skew Matrix Software launches OpenSceneGraph documentation project
LOUISVILLE, Colo., November 3, 2006
Skew Matrix is developing a set of OpenSceneGraph programming guides and reference manuals. Paul Martz is the primary author, with assistance from OpenSceneGraph luminaries Don Burns (Andes Computer Engineering) and Robert Osfield (OpenSceneGraph Professional Services). Andes Computer Engineering is partially funding the effort through the CGSD contract.
The documentation consists of at least three books.
- OpenSceneGraph Quick Start Guide—Length: 100-150 pages. Cost: Freely downloadable as a PDF, or about $15 USD bound softcover. Available: Q1 2007.
- OpenSceneGraph Programming Guide—Length: 500-700 pages. Cost: $35-$45 USD. Available: Late 2007.
- OpenSceneGraph Reference Manual—Available: 2008.
A Gems-style book is also under consideration.
As the books are developed, Skew Matrix will leverage the OpenSceneGraph community as a technical review team to ensure quality and completeness. Skew Matrix intends to maintain these manuals on a long-term basis. Proceeds from sales will help fund future revisions and updates.
